About Tulane Black Law Students Association
The Tulane Black Law Students Association (BLSA) is a premier student organization dedicated to advancing the legal profession and supporting Black law students at Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, LA. As the Tulane Chapter of the national BLSA network, the organization articulates and promotes the needs and goals of its members while working to effect meaningful positive change within the legal community. BLSA provides comprehensive programs, activities, and leadership development opportunities designed to foster professional growth and community engagement among its diverse membership.
BLSA members benefit from participation in nationally recognized competitions that sharpen essential legal skills. The organization facilitates annual competition in prestigious events including the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition and the Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition. These competitions enable participants to advance their legal research, writing, and oral advocacy capabilities while building valuable professional relationships with BLSA members and legal professionals across the country. Through these competitive opportunities, members develop the practical expertise and confidence necessary for success in legal practice.
Beyond competitions, BLSA actively collaborates with other student organizations and sponsors educational initiatives that benefit both the Tulane Law community and the Greater New Orleans region.
