The Black Women’s Agenda, Inc.

The Black Women's Agenda, Inc. (BWA) is a Washington, DC-based organization dedicated to advancing the rights and status of Black women through policy advocacy, research, and public education. Since its founding in 1977, BWA has conducted continuing assessments of the economic, social, and civil liberties issues affecting Black women, translating those findings into data-based public policy recommendations designed to enhance their opportunities and outcomes. The organization operates through multiple strategic initiatives, including annual workshops and recognition luncheons held in Washington, DC, comprehensive educational programs addressing health, wealth, and political representation, and collaborative partnerships with 24 national collaborating organizations. BWA facilitates critical discussions on Capitol Hill and beyond, publishing regular newsletters, Congressional alerts, and issue papers that inform stakeholders about pressing concerns facing Black women and their families. The organization also convenes town meetings and dialogue sessions with U.S. Presidential candidates, ensuring that Black women's voices are heard in the highest levels of political discourse. By establishing clear social priorities and maintaining continuous vigilance on issues affecting Black women worldwide, BWA works to mitigate persistent gender gaps and advance meaningful policy change that addresses poverty, economic opportunity, and educational access.
