The Barristers' Association of Philadelphia, Inc. serves the professional development and advancement of Black lawyers throughout Philadelphia, PA and surrounding areas. Since its establishment in 1950, the organization has provided comprehensive support to legal professionals through an extensive array of continuing legal education seminars, cultural events, networking forums, and professional publications. With a membership encompassing approximately 1,000 lawyers and jurists serving in both private and public sectors, the Barristers' Association offers members unparalleled access to peer networks, career development opportunities, and industry resources. The organization facilitates professional growth through exclusive CLEs designed to sharpen legal skills, political education forums that promote awareness and advocacy, and strategic networking events connecting solo practitioners, partners, associates, judges, and law clerks. As an active affiliate of the National Bar Association, the Barristers' Association maintains connections with practicing Black lawyers, judges, and law students across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The organization also demonstrates commitment to cultivating the next generation of legal talent by awarding annual scholarships to minority law students at local law schools in Philadelphia, PA, and sponsoring youth awareness initiatives that promote career opportunities in the legal profession. Through its Executive Committee and distinguished Advisory Board composed of prominent legal professionals, the Barristers' Association provides a structured forum for discussion and dissemination of information on matters of particular interest to Black attorneys and the broader Philadelphia Black community.
