National Congress of Black Women Greater Cleveland Chapter

The National Congress of Black Women Greater Cleveland Chapter, based in Garfield Heights, OH, is a dedicated advocacy organization focused on advancing public policy and civic engagement. Operating as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, the chapter specializes in government relations and policy development on critical issues affecting Black women and their families in the Greater Cleveland community. The organization actively develops and advocates public policy positions addressing the preschool to prison pipeline, access to healthcare, healthy food access, and equal rights initiatives. Members engage in non-partisan leadership activities, voter registration drives, and political education forums designed to amplify the voices and concerns of Black women in the public arena. The chapter provides comprehensive training and internships at local and state levels, equipping members and young people with the knowledge needed to participate effectively within educational, economic, social, and political spheres. Since its establishment in September 2016, the Garfield Heights-based chapter has partnered with national and state organizations to host leadership meetings and distribute critical information on voter messaging and policy matters. The organization serves as a non-partisan voice and instrument for the election and appointment of African American women at all government levels, while encouraging Black women to engage in leadership activities across multiple professional sectors.
