About Mississippi Black Women’s Roundtable
Mississippi Black Women's Roundtable (MSBWR) is a statewide intergenerational civic engagement network based in Jackson, MS, dedicated to advancing economic security and social justice for Black women and girls. As the women and girls empowerment arm of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, MSBWR provides comprehensive services across policy advocacy, civic engagement, voter participation, and leadership development. The organization specializes in shifting power at multiple levels—from the voting booth to policy tables and within local communities. MSBWR's core service areas include nonpartisan civic engagement and voter registration, policy advocacy that educates policymakers on economic and social justice concerns affecting Black women and their families, and transformational leadership development designed for long-term movement building. The organization also provides community outreach and rapid response services to address emerging needs. With a focus on expanding intergenerational leadership networks, MSBWR addresses critical disparities in economic insecurity, education, and health that perpetuate systemic poverty. Operating throughout Jackson and across Mississippi, the organization creates public and private forums where Black women's voices are heard, valued, and affirmed. MSBWR combines strategic policy engagement with grassroots organizing to tackle issues at the intersection of race, gender, and economic justice, making it a vital resource for communities seeking equitable solutions and sustainable change.
