About Federation of Black Canadians

The Federation of Black Canadians (FBC) is a national non-profit organization headquartered in Brampton, ON, dedicated to advancing the social, economic, political, and cultural interests of Canadians of African descent. Operating across the country, FBC addresses critical priority areas including total health, criminal justice reform, employment development, and lifelong learning. The organization works to develop comprehensive national action plans that improve health and well-being for Black Canadians, while simultaneously addressing the systemic impact of anti-Black racism within the criminal justice system. FBC's employment development initiatives focus on increasing access to training across traditional and non-traditional work sectors, ensuring economic security and opportunity for community members. Through lifelong learning programs, the organization promotes excellence and eliminates systemic barriers to success in educational settings. FBC operates under the principle of "Stronger Together – Nothing about Us Without Us," partnering with Black-led organizations, government bodies, and educational institutions across Canada. The organization offers specialized programs including the Youth Employment Skills Program, a 15-week paid training initiative for youth aged 15-30; the Black Entrepreneurship Program, providing free resources for business launch and growth; and the Student Supports for Learning Program, offering mentorship and educational bursaries. With over 1,000,000 Black Canadians now calling Canada home—a figure projected to double by 2036—FBC remains committed to unlocking opportunities that build a promising future while celebrating the diverse heritages, histories, and contributions of Black communities across Brampton, Ontario and throughout the nation.
