About Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated

Delta Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is a prestigious student organization dedicated to fostering academic excellence, sisterhood, and community service at the University of Texas at Austin. As the first African-American Greek-letter organization established on the UT Austin campus in 1959, Delta Xi has maintained a distinguished legacy of service and leadership for over six decades.

The chapter implements comprehensive programming designed to address critical community needs and support student development. Health Week, held during the fall semester, raises awareness about mental, emotional, and physical wellness while promoting education on domestic violence prevention and cardiovascular health. Love Jones celebrates the artistic and cultural contributions of the community through visual art, music, dance, and spoken word during Founders' Week. Precious Commodities honors and uplifts Black male students at UT Austin, while AKAppuccino brings together sorority women across Greek councils to discuss issues affecting young women and girls.

Beyond campus initiatives, Delta Xi extends its impact throughout the Austin community. The chapter's Holiday AKAsion program provides gifts and fellowship to residents of Austin Safe Place Children's Shelter and Dell Children's Medical School during the holiday season. Through scholarship awards, community service projects, and consistent advocacy for academic excellence, Delta Xi Chapter embodies the sorority's founding principles of service to all mankind.

With nearly 170,000 members across more than 900 chapters nationwide, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated continues the vision established in 1908 as America's first Black Greek-letter organization for women. Delta Xi's commitment to excellence, service, and progress reflects this national heritage while making meaningful contributions to the Austin, Texas community.
