The Columbus, GA Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. (COLGA) is a premier organization dedicated to nurturing and developing future African American leaders through comprehensive programming and community engagement. Since its establishment in 1966 and official charter in 1967, COLGA has provided structured opportunities for children and teens ages 2-19 to build leadership skills, cultural awareness, and civic responsibility. The organization operates through coordinated mother and teen groups that work collaboratively on educational initiatives, community service projects, and youth development programs. COLGA serves the Columbus, Georgia community by organizing signature events including the biennial Debutante Ball and Beautillion Ball, which celebrate young African American leaders and promote excellence. The chapter has distinguished itself through active participation in regional and national conferences, with members serving on various committees including Programming, By-Laws, Protocol, and Regional Leadership positions. COLGA's commitment to advocacy and service is demonstrated through past initiatives addressing public health concerns, such as collaborative efforts to eliminate smoking in public places that resulted in Georgia state policy changes. The organization maintains a 5-Star Chapter of Excellence designation and continues to celebrate 87 years of leadership and advocacy.
