About Black Women Lawyers Association of Northern California
Black Women Lawyers Association of Northern California (BWLNC) is a professional organization based in Hayward, CA, dedicated to supporting Black women in the legal profession through comprehensive programming and networking opportunities. Since 1979, BWLNC has provided professional, educational, social, and moral support for Black women judges, lawyers, and law students throughout Northern California. The organization facilitates in-depth roundtable discussions focused on business development and career advancement, enabling members to navigate the unique challenges and opportunities within the legal field. BWLNC's membership encompasses a diverse range of legal professionals, including senior level executives and in-house attorneys, law firm partners and associates, solo practitioners, government attorneys, judges, law professors, and law students from premier institutions across the country. The organization hosts networking events, community service projects, and social gatherings that foster meaningful connections among members while maintaining frank and open dialogues tailored to the experiences of Black women attorneys. As a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, BWLNC maintains affiliate membership with the National Bar Association (NBA) and holds memberships in the California Association of Black Lawyers (CABL) and the Minority Bar Coalition (MBC). Beyond professional development, BWLNC remains actively dedicated to service within surrounding communities, combining career advancement opportunities with meaningful community engagement.
