About 100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina
100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization centered in Wilmington, NC, dedicated to empowering African-American youth through comprehensive mentorship and educational programs. Based in the Cape Fear region, the organization operates the Success Academy, a ten-month program serving grades 8-12 that provides workshops, seminars, webinars, and college preparation guidance at no cost to participants. The Success Academy meets twice monthly on Saturdays and includes college tours, historical site visits, and professional skill development training to prepare students for two-year and four-year college applications. The organization also hosts in-school programs at New Hanover and Brunswick County middle schools, offering SAT and ACT college prep courses designed to level the educational playing field for underserved youth. With members throughout the Cape Fear region including engineers, CEOs, ministers, and electricians, 100 Black Men of Coastal North Carolina leverages diverse professional expertise to mentor the next generation. The organization's philosophy centers on the principle that "what they see is what they'll be," motivating members to model success and provide exposure to opportunities and lifestyles that may otherwise be unavailable to young people. As a chapter of the national 100 Black Men of America organization—which was founded in New York in 1963 and now operates over 110 chapters impacting more than 125,000 youth—the Wilmington chapter continues this legacy of improving quality of life and enhancing educational, health, and economic opportunities for all African Americans in southeastern North Carolina.
