About 100 Black Men of Central Virginia

100 Black Men of Central Virginia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes and quality of life for African American youth in Charlottesville and the surrounding region. Operating as a nonpartisan entity, the organization delivers comprehensive mentoring programs designed to eliminate the achievement gap among African American male students in grades K-12. The organization's service area encompasses Charlottesville and eight surrounding counties including Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, and Orange.

The organization provides multiple evidence-based programs tailored to support student success at different educational levels. Scholar Hours offers virtual tutoring sessions held three times weekly, connecting 5th through 8th-grade students with qualified tutors and teachers for homework assistance and academic support. The High School Scholars Program recognizes outstanding achievement, having awarded $42,000 in scholarships to 42 African American high school seniors in 2023 who demonstrated academic excellence with GPAs of at least 3.0 and active community engagement. The M-Cubed Summer Academy provides additional academic enrichment opportunities throughout the year.

Beyond student-focused initiatives, 100 Black Men of Central Virginia is committed to advocating for progressive change across education, health, civics, and economics. The organization extends mentorship and support to its own members, creating a comprehensive community of practice. With an inclusive approach to public involvement, the organization welcomes participation from community members interested in supporting educational equity and youth development in Charlottesville and Central Virginia.
